Exclusive Entrevista: Kat Deluna

Kat Deluna is hushing haters and reclaiming her territory...

Forget marking up corny tag names - real longevity is what this fierce Dominicana is after. Kat Deluna defied critics with her eclectic freshmen album, "9 Lives," but now the 21-year-old is proving to have the powerhouse stamina to be "Unstoppable." There is no doubt that Kat's latest track featuring Grammy pimp-master, Lil' Wayne is a garanteed showstopper. We chatted up exclusively with the pint-sized songstress about her sophomore album, "Inside Out" and mucho más right below the hood!

Your new single "Unstoppable" officially dropped today. Is the song dedicated to your haters?

Yes. Not only am I speaking about my own experiences, but also my fans. It is for all of my fans out there who feel like they have someone out there that doesn't want them to progress or go places. They should just keep going and say you know what, I am unstoppable. I always try to send out the same message [of empowerment].

How did your collaboration with Lil' Wayne spring-up?

Everybody knows everybody in this business. After we finished the track, we were trying to find someone to add, but had a hard time. We were literally going to leave it just with myself on it, and then Lil' Wayne heard the song and he was like, 'Oh my God, that's what it is.' He was impressed with it because it has all these flavors to it. He is so talented. Within an hour he gave us the track back with his part in it. It was crazy!

The concept of the video is definitely edgy. Which fashion piece was your favorite to rock?

The video is amazing! It was produced by Tyrone Edmonds. He came up with the concept of the video. My favorite piece is in the frame when I am saying, 'Follow the leader.' I love the high-fashion feel it has.

How do you think your signature sound has evolved in your new album, "Inside Out"?

In this album I am experimenting with a more hip-hop sound. It's titled, "Inside Out" because I am bringing out the person that was always inside of me. I have club-bangin' tracks, but there are also songs that are rock and pop influenced. There are also a couple of crazy ballads. I am really really happy with the finishing product.

What made you launch a national gay club tour?

I actually have a huge gay following and I toured with Cindy Lauper last year. [The tour] is all about gay pride. It is a U.S. tour with additional dates in Mexico.
