Half-Puerto Rican rapper, Termanology celebrates '09 with a blazin' new mixtape...

The Lawrence, Mass. native just celebrated the release of his latest mixtape, "If Heaven Was a Mile Away" a J. Dilla tribute with a party last night at Sutra Lounge in NYC. The party was DJ'd by crew-mate, Statik Selektah with appearances by hip-hop royalty Just Blaze, Lil Fame of M.O.P, Skyzoo, DJ Who Kid and DJ Eclipse. The mixtape showcases Termanology's ability to twist urban philosophy into a new dimension.

Last year the 26-year-old shocked fans after signing a deal with Indie label, Nature Sounds after being courted by all the majors...

We caught-up with Mr. Term last night to ask about his decision and he stated:

[The industry] is confused when it comes to me personally. I went to every label. They don't know how to market me. They are like are you white? Are you Puerto Rican? Alright, You're Puerto Rican, so you do reggaeton? And I am like no! I like to be myself, so I am just going to stick to being me.

With his successful debut album, "Politics As Usual" and an upcoming tour, we see this Boricua is in it for the longterm. Pero, when will the industry learn Latinos don't all fit in one box??

We were teased with 'sneak peeks' for long enough!

Salma Hayek officially joined the guest cast roster of the Emmy-winning sitcom, "30 Rock" last night. Mainstream gringos got a heavy dose of la mamacita's comedic improvisations and flirty maneuvers as Alec Baldwin's (a.k.a. Señor Macho Solo) new love interest, Elisa. Salma plays a Puerto Rican nurse to Jack Donaghy's mother played by, Elaine Stritch.

Their characters are as different as night and day, which is exactly what injects non-stop humor into Salma's skits. What does 'must see tv' starring a Latina also have to include? Jokes on her rapid-Spanish speaking and a scene featuring Salma doing the Macarena at her goddaughter's quinceañera.

Come on, when have you ever seen a Boricua moving to the Macarena?! That dance move is as overdone as those pesky Speedy Gonzalez chistes, but Salma's comedic timing delivers the 'caliente' Latinaness and cleavage that everyone is hungry for these days. What do you think of Salma's new role?

The Jonas Brothers should be used to being on top of el mundo by now...

But the brotherly trio admit that they are fearful of the annual Grammy Awards on February 8th. The "Lovebug" singers are nominated for "Best New Artist," competing alongside Adele, Duffy, Lady Antebellum, and Jazmine Sullivan. The fellas have no shame in even revealing that they had butterflies in their stomachs during the announcement ceremony. Pobrecitos.

Nick states to MTV News:

As an artist and a songwriter...you always dream about being nominated for a Grammy. And if we do win — wow, that would be amazing.

Do you think they have a good chance at snagging the award? [MTV News]

And another one...

Juanes was able to recharge for the holidays, but the roquero is back into éxito mode with a concert in Manizales, Colombia tomorrow. The "Odio Por Amor" singer is teaming-up with Latin Grammy-winner, Miguel Bosé for an explosive concierto worth buying an airplane ticket for. Wait, scratch that. The performance is already sold-out!

We recently caught-up with Juanes to find out what career path he would have chosen outside of la música:

No sé.

Por favor, he was born to be a musical prodigy! We are glad he didn't settle for anything less. [MTV Tr3s Radio Noticias]

Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna have officially made box office history in Mexico.

Their latest film, “Rudo y Cursi” premiered just last week and has already earned $1.4 million, making it the fifth highest grossing film in Mexican cinema. The dramatic comedy directed by Carlos Cuaron, playfully depicts the dysfunctional relationship between to pro soccer-playing siblings who attempt to one-up each other with every goal.

We hear that the flick is so good, that Sony Classics has started a bidding war to acquire the rights to feature the film during the Sundance Film Festival beginning January 15th. These chavos make a pretty good on-screen team no?

Gael and Diego will be proving just that when they take the production seat together in the upcoming indie flick, "Sin Nombre." The film, featuring the raw tale of a Mexican gang leader and a Honduran immigrant on their journey to the United States, premieres on March 20th nationwide. [Reuters]

There is no doubt about it...Mario Lopez is a ladies man.

The “Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness” author may have published his secret tips on obtaining a rock-hard bod, but he has enough game to write a series of self-help manuals on pimpin' las mujeres. The chicano heart-breaker easily breezed through his very public break-up with Karina Smirnoff, and has been spotted with Broadway star and new novia, Courtney Laine Mazza. The cupcake-loving couple met on-the-set of "The Chorus Line" last year.

Bueno, we hope this chica is well aware of Mario's player ways. He recently admitted to even kicking game to Fergie at the tender age of 10! According to People, he lost his first kiss virginity to The Duchess by surprising her with a bottle of perfume and a suave beso on the lips! Classic AC Slater move if you ask us.

Do you think the couple will last?

Team Jacob fans can breathe a little easier today...

The debate of who should play Jacob in Stephenie Meyer's next installment is finally over. Taylor Lautner fans can now rejoice as the author just confirmed that he is here to stay. She quoted director Chris Weitz as saying:

I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in 'New Moon' and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

Speculation about Lautner's future with the franchise has run rampant since Weitz took the reins from original director Catherine Hardwicke. Many felt the 16-year-old actor would have a tough time filling Jacob Black's shoes, given that the shape-shifting character ages 10 years and has a growth spurt in the second novel.

But have no fear, in rebuttal to that Taylor has been hitting the gym, hard. Guess we'll see if he makes a good fit in November. [MTV News]
