For months, rumors circled las calles and claimed that Don Omar would perform at the Latino Inaugural Gala hosted by Voto Latino and several other organizations. Turns out he did not attend or perform...

Was he forced to ditch the ball? According to "El Vocero de Puerto Rico," the reggaetonero did not attend the political festivities due to 'logistical problems.' Prior to the elections, Don Omar featured his musical vibes for a pro-social cause in the video, "Podemos con Obama." Flexing his political passion only made him stand-out more as a musical guest for the gala held on Sunday.
The newspaper also reports that unorganized event planning also played a role. Once Don was limited to only bringing three guests, the "Canción De Amor" singer was 'forced' to become a no-show.
Sounds a little shady to us. All he needed were two tickets for him and his wife, Jackie Guerrido. Shouldn't he have attended despite not being able to perform? YOU DECIDE. [MTV TR3s Radio Noticias]

The life of iconic and super controversial revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara finally comes to life...
Thanks to the perseverance of Oscar winning actor Benicio Del Toro. The Boricua co-produced and starred in Che, the two-part biopic that has been a labor of love for the last seven years. The film chronicles his rise up to revolutionary icon from Argentina to fighting along side Fidel Castro. The script manages to unveil the mythical depictions of these historical figures by using a humanistic lense that doesn't fade-out until the very end.
MTV News caught-up with Benicio to talk about why Che (both film and the person) is still so relevant today. Check out what he and actor Rodrigo Santoro (Raul Castro) had to say in the video below. Not into history? Rodrigo and Benecio will change your mind. Watch the clip!

El Cangri does it again...

Daddy Yankee's latest single, “Llamado de Emergencia” may have only peaked Billboard's top twenty spot, but the rhythmic track has been conquering the number one position in South American airwaves for weeks. The canción from the top-selling "Talento de Barrio" soundtrack is especially a trend-mark in Colombia, Chile and El Salvador.
The "Pose" reggaetonero recently spoke to us about his latest production:
El disco es una evolución. A la gente que le gusta la música nueva, refrescante, hay temas muy refrescantes a donde va la nueva dirección del género como es el tema de ‘Pose’, ‘Infinito’, el tema de ‘Cancela’ que es el dance hall encendío en español. Los capitanes de la nueva escuela están en mi álbum y seguimos innovando dentro de la música.
DY should be on-point with a rookie captain like Arcángel by his side. Seems like Mr. Yankee is building a global enterprise one song at a time. Which is your favorite Daddy Yankee throwback? [MTV TR3s Radio Noticias]

It feels so good to be standing here. My mama would be so proud to see her baby boy performing the #1 song in the country for our new African-American president.
Other performers included Fall Out Boy and Kid Rock. Not sure who looked more smashin', guest host Rosario Dawson or celeb Demi Moore. Other celebs in the house included Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, Ashton Kutcher, Usher, Santogold and on-screen superhero, Tobey Maguire.

But the real star of the night had to be the guest of honor himself, Barack Obama and his lovely wife, as they took to the dance floor. There is no doubt that Michelle Obama has the fashionista swagger that leaves everyone wondering what she will wear next.

We especially kept our eyes peeled on what she would rock on inauguration day! Our First Lady shined in a dazzling vintage-inspired yellow gown designed by Cuban-American designer, Isabel Toledo. Unlike most mainstream designers, Isabel is considered a newbie in the designer world. With only a couple of years in the fashion business she has already gained a reputation for recreating a modern avant garde look.
Redefining the meaning of traditional first lady attire, Mrs. Obama definitely picks her designers wisely and has worked with Isabel during Election season. Besides Toledo's designs, Michelle Obama has also picked evening wear designed by runway renegades, Narciso Rodriguez, Zero + Maria Cornejo, and Maria Pinto.

The next generation snatched the mic and celebrated change during the "Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future" this past weekend. Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Bow Wow, and Corbin Bleu were all on a mission to impress First Lady Michelle Obama, and daughters Malia and Sasha. Who managed to get las chicas the most hyped? Bueno, they were spotted smiling and snapping fotos of the "Fly On The Wall" singer the minute she hit the stage! (Can you blame them with that muy fancy red dress?!)
Michelle Obama also delivered a speech to the crowd:
You are the future of this great nation. We wanted to thank the thousands stationed around the world to keep our nation safe. [We] are so grateful for the service and sacrifice. We join you all ... praying for your loved ones.
The Jonas Brothers hit the stage for the last performance of the night. We can only imagine how excited the girls were! Which artist would have you smiling like the President's daughters? [MTV News]

Rosario Dawson urged los jovenes to hit the polls as co-founder of Voto Latino; last night she celebrated record youth voter turnout in the '08 election at the Latino Inaugural Gala.

The "Seven Pounds" actress spoke (quickly, we might add) about the electric energy running through las calles of Washington, D.C. this inauguration season. While her movie career may be considered at the top of her priorities list, the New York native admits she is most proud of her work with non-profit Voto Latino. Although she maintained a bipartisan perspective towards the candidates during Election season, there is no doubt that Rosario is now shouting "Obamanos" con orgullo.
MTV Tr3s and Terra interviewed Rosario Dawson about meeting Barack Obama for the first time and what she expects for our country's future during the gala. This chica definitely has a lot to say! Alejandro Sanz only believes in palabras políticas if they are followed by real acción...

The "Te lo Agradezco, Pero No" singer admits that the United States is in good hands as long as Obama accomplishes all of the social and political changes he advocated for during the 2008 Election. Despite politicians often getting a bad rep for being high-profiled charlatanes, Sanz seems to be confident that the President-elect will get the job done correctamente. MTV Tr3s and Terra caught-up with Alejandro at the Latino Inaugural Gala's red carpet on Sunday. Check out the exclusive interview and let us know if you agree with his words.
Be sure to catch “Be the Change: Live From the Inaugural” on MTV Tr3s this Tuesday, January 20th at 10pm EST. Watch all of the interviews brought to you by Terra and MTV Tr3s here.
