The king of the South is bacccck....
And he goes by the name of Chris Bridges. The Southern Hospitality rapper was on hiatus for a little while but he is ending 2008 with a bang. Sporting button downs and sweaters, Ludacris is all grown up now, and has a starring role and a new album to prove it. After catching heat for vocalizing his political beliefs it seems like a much calmer, quieter Ludacris is in the spotlight. Hear what the Hot-lanta native had to say about working with fly boy Mark Wahlberg, his thoughts on the Presidential election and what his latest toy is after the jump...
You co-star in this year’s video game thriller Max Payne, tell me about your role in the movie.
I play internal affairs agent Jim Bravura. Basically I am fast on Mark Wahlberg’s heels the entire movie but I am the only character that really understands Mark Wahlberg. Even though I know I am a cop, I know that if my family were murdered I would be doing the same thing, but it’s up to me to just make sure he doesn’t continue breaking the law.
How was it working with Mark Wahlberg? Is he as serious as he looks all the time?
He’s real laid back and chill. He’s serious when they call action, after that he’s just real cool and laidback. He’s a real humble guy.
Were there any memorable moments on the set?
I just remember one scene that we had where we were inside of a building and the sprinkler system was pouring down on us and we were standing there pointing guns at each other. We had to keep doing the scene over and over again so we had to keep changing into dry clothes and then keep getting wet all over again. So that was pretty intense for me because I hate to be cold and wet.
You have been very vocal about the election this year with your song “Obama Is Here.” Are you still supporting Obama despite his reaction to the song?
November 4th, everyone needs to go out and vote! I don’t want to distract anyone from anyone of the candidates from what they have to do or the issues they have to face in order to become the next President. So therefore, that’s all I am going to say about that.
What do you think is the number one issue facing our youth that should be addressed right now?
The number one issue for the youth is that there is not enough people registered to vote. That is the issue. Especially from 18- 22, there is not enough of those people registered to vote. And those are the people that can actually make their voice heard and actually tip the scales one way or another in this election.
Do you have any car trends you follow right now? Is it all about the Cadiallac grills still?
For me now it’s all about the motorcycles. Right now I have a Kawasaki 1400, a Suzuki 1000 and a Harley Davidson. So as long as they are all tricked out I am good now-a-days.
You also have an album coming out soon, tell us about that…
Yes, November 25th, it’s called Theater of the Mind.
How did you come up with the concept for this album?
Because of all the movies I’ve been doing. I kind of wanted to incorporate that with the music and theme it out like a movie. Every song is conceptual so every song is kind of like its own movie.
We are looking forward to that! Check out Chris Bridges on the big screen when he stars opposite 'Marky' Mark Walberg in Max Payne starting tomorrow. Tune in to get another dose when he visits L. Boogs on Sucker Free Latino October 22nd at 4pm.
