Exclusive Entrevista: Luis Fonsi

Luis Fonsi may look good enough to bring home to mami, but the Latin Billboard chart-topper also has the vocal skills to make your corazón melt with joy. His sixth album "Palabras del Silencio" manages to seduce our souls with melancholic melodies and triumphant declarations of love like his first single, "No Me Doy Por Vencido." We recently got a chance to talk to the Boricua about his passionate inspirations and most memorable fan moment. Be sure to soak up all the love right below the hood!

What was inspiration for your sixth album "Palabras del Silencio"?

When I write an album I don't have a specific inspiration. I am inspired by love itself, relationships, and the good and bad things that happen in relationships. What I see and what I feel helps me make each song into a different story. Life itself is an inspiration for me.

A lot of your songs are romance themed, would you consider yourself a romantic person?

I do. Not only that, but I actually enjoy romantic songs. Ever since I can remember, I gravitate towards the ballads. I feel more comfortable speaking and singing through them. When it comes down to writing a song...it is easy for me to pick up the guitar and sing a ballad. I enjoy up-tempo songs too, but I just feel the vibe differently when it is about romance.

What would you consider your most memorable fan moment?

That was actually with a fan in Venezuela. She was [handicapped] and promised me that she would walk for me. She said to me, 'I will walk for you.' After she said that I realized how blessed I am to be able to touch people with my music.

What are your thoughts on the Presidential Election in November?

It is very important to be involved and to vote. I contradict myself and I sadly admit it, because I was brought up in a family that wasn't very politically active. But I think it is important to turn that around and vote. I am going to vote for the first time this year. As Latinos I think it is very important.
