If you've been on the MTV Tr3s homepage lately, you might have noticed this image:
This picture is of the 18-year-old Latin Grammy-nominated artist Diego, whose single "Tres Minutos" is up for grabs as part of MTV Tr3s Descubre & Download. This might look like an average press pic to you, but to us it's reminiscent of...
OME! We had to do a double take because Diego's pic looks super similar to Twilight posters and stills. Then, we got a crazy thought, which could be a brain synapse misfiring due to the deafening sound of Jonas Brothers fans SCREAMING outside our office window today (plug, plug -- they'll appear on Mi TRL next Thursday, August 21st at 4PM), or it could just be un pensamiento muy padre.
Could Diego, or un otro guapo, play the lead in a Latino version of Twilight? Dum, dum, dum...
Who would YOU cast in a Latino themed version of the movie? In honor of Twilight Tuesdays, tell us your thoughts on who would make a great Bella and Edward, pero con más sabor latino.

Comparisons between "High School Musical" and "The American Mall" have been swirling for some time now, and rightfully so. Both films feature picture-perfect, porcelain-looking teens from Middle America breaking down their singing and dancing skills. The flicks make being a teenager look, like, so rad. But don't get it twisted mi gente, if you ask the cast of "The American Mall," they will put you in check and inform you that their steez is different, it's más sexy!
Co-star Blythe Auffarth had this to say about the sassy storyline:
It's a little sexier than 'High School Musical,' a little edgier, we deal with more adult issues. It's closer to home for maybe older groups of individuals, like [those] beginning years of college.
I bet parents across the nation are relieved to hear that. NOT! If you missed the MTV premiere of "The American Mall" movie last night, no te preocupes! You can catch the steamy teens tonight on MTV Tr3s @ 6pm and don't forget to check out the opening video and sexy pics below the hood! [MTV News]
We can bet that Vanessa Hudgens won't be flashing her sweet sonrisa during this controversy! Apparently music producer Johnny Vieira wants pay back after the "Come Back To Me" starlet allegedly skipped out on paying him his rightful dues. The songwriter and producer is now requesting a hefty $5 million for the contract violation.
We hope the "High School Musical" star is strapping on her dancing shoes for this legal battle! [The Associated Press]
Another one bites the dust ladies! Joel Martínez from the blazin' duo Alexis y Fido officially kissed his bachelor lifestyle goodbye by getting hitched to his longtime novia Yaris Emilia Rodríguez in Carolina, Puerto Rico on Saturday.
We have spotted Penelope Cruz selling her flawless beauty (and fierce long lashes) for L'Oreal Paris, but this Spanish diva refuses to consider herself a sell out. The "Volver" actress may be satisfying the mainstream crowd in Woody Allen's latest film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," but Penelope is also returning to her roots by teaming-up with veteran director Pedro Almodovar.
Word has it that los padres de la cantante Belinda might have had a hand in the recent robbery of her home near Mexico City.
The thought of mom and pop cracking into Belinda's casa is too much to stomach -- wasn't it just last week that her father spoke out, urging authorities to investigate el robo, so that his hija could live safe and sound? Said Ignacio Peregrín, father to the 18-year-old cantante:
This country is marvelous, and it would be so difficult [for her] to leave it. Belinda has an image to maintain here, and right now it’s important to have faith that people can live securely here.
What kind of parents break & enter on their own daughter? Chismosos say that Belinda's mami and papi may have done it to scare the singer, to force her out of what they felt was un vecino peligroso. Whether they're guilty or not, the fears are not unfounded; the singer received menacing crank calls leading up to el robo.

Who needs el día de los enamorados when you have Enrique Iglesias and Aventura spittin' their romantic ballads to you in person? Mark your calendars because the “Dónde Están Corazón” singer will be spittin' game with help from the golden "Kings of Bachata" starting September 4th in Laredo, Texas!
The Spanish solo artist explains that the key to any collabo is connecting with el público:
At the end of it all, I think all artists have something in common which is our songs because no matter whether you are a popular artist with a long lasting career or not, if you don't have a song that connects with your public than you have nothing.
We doubt these romeos will have any problem. Be sure to check out their official U.S. tour dates below the hood! [MTV Radio Noticias]
