America Ferrera Represents For Las Mujeres!

America Ferrera is always representin' para las chicas on the silver screen. The actress honored our homegrown curvas in “Real Women have Curves,” and has made us fall in love with the cruel and unpredictable world of high-end fashion in ABC's hit series "Ugly Betty." Now we watch as the Emmy Award-winner revisits her role in "The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2."

The Los Angeles native recently spoke out about her role in the sequel:

You want to see your story represented out there in the big world of entertainment and so I think it's exciting for young women...it is special for young women to see a real portrayal of how hard it is to grow up and how special friendships can be.

Word is that America's character Carmen breaks out of her shell and goes from being a backstage crew member to starring in a Shakespeare play, not to mention a romance that unravels with her hot British co-star. You can catch America along with "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel in "The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2" in theaters August 6th. [ MTV News, CNN News]
